Muslim Youth-led Reconciliation in Action
Muslim-Indigenous Connection (MIC) is a historic, path-breaking, and transformative intercultural leadership program for Canadian Muslim youth.
It is HISTORIC because it is the first-ever youth movement focused on Indigenous reconciliation. It is PATH-BREAKING because it is grounded in faith-inspired values and
Muslim-led reconciliation framework. It is TRANSFORMATIVE because it creates impact that lasts for seven generations.
MIC is grounded in Islamic teachings, inspired by Indigenous ways of knowing, and thrives on
shared values that complement each other.
Global Recognition
MIC was selected as a successful youth inter-cultural engagement model at the 5th Global Youth Work Conference in Malaysia, organized by the Commonwealth Secretariat in Nov 2025. Because MIC offers for global Muslims a solid framework to replicate in their own contexts to build authentic relationships with the Indigenous communities in their countries, e.g., Orang Asli in Malaysia, Aboriginals in Australia, Dalits in India, Mayans in Mexico, Veddhas in Sri Lanka, etc. This is a significant international recognition for a program built from a vision born out of a Toronto mosque.
